Freedom and Polygamy

Should people be allowed to practice polygamy, even with 16-year old girls, if it is part of their religion?

I would say no. Accompanied with polygamy are tons of problems caused such as jealousy, murder, increasing in number of broken families, etc. Although there are examples of successful polygamy families but the negative effects are apparent. Children will grow up confused and may follow the same practice. Legalizing polygamy means you say it is fine for the society to have teen mothers, which means it is fine to we have dropouts at the early age... and what should the government say when they oppose adultery but accept polygamy? There would be a lot of conflicts when deciding what should be the standard moral value of the society. It is no longer the matter of individual personal liberties but the matter of concern for the whole community.

I believe not, if their are such satanic religions, and there is. I don't believe men should have the freedom to have relations or merry children under the age of 18. Even though we should have freedom of religion, there should most defiantly be limits on all religion. The purity of a young teens life can never be taken back, even if she fully devotes herself to the religion and agrees with the marriage. She still does not know what she truly wants. The brain wash of a corrupt religion will confuse and persuade any young teen who falls under it deceitful spell. No, it should not be allowed think of the future of this child. Who's going to give her her child hood back? why does any one want to merry off a child who adult life has not yet started? I completely don't think this is and should not be acceptable in any religion.

I truly believe that there is a serious psychological damage to those that are practicing polygamy. Not only they are brain washed, but also they are closed inside of a world that's created by the leading person of the sect. There are rules imposed upon them; some are ridiculous, others are just not healthy, such as: not being able to interact with anyone outside of their group, not being able to discuss emotions with others in the sect, and many others. In closure, it is not good to practice polygamy because people's lives and liberties are violated.
