"(Farmer's Branch) Ordinance 2952... would require all renters to pay a $5 fee and claim U.S. citizenship or legal immigration status to obtain an occupancy license from the city."
"Ordinance 2952 won't go into effect until a federal judge rules on the constitutionality of (it)"
I would have to say that I feel that this could be a practical way to reduce illegal immigration to the area although it may be found unconstitutional under a court of law. However, personally, I don't feel that illegal immigrants pose an immediate physical threat to America, but more of a psychological one and I would have to say that it is my opinion that those on the city council shouldn't have made it illegal to rent houses or apartments to illegal immigrants.
Additional questions relative to the topic:
Illegal immigration: morality vs. necessity.
Economic effects of illegal immigration.
Ability to smuggle items of direct national threat.
Dealing with known illegal aliens.
also:
will this effect those currently renting houses?

I for one do not think it is right for illegal immigrants to "smuggle" into the U.S. Although i do understand and feel great compassion for why they do so.I personally think that it should be up to the owner to decide whether or not they want illegal immigrants to be living in their facilities(after all money is money whether it comes from an illegal or not)
one of the biggest problems we face when it comes to illegal immigration is terrorists. the terrorists that were involved in 9/11 were known as sleeper cells. sleeper cells are terrorists living among us with everyday lives illegally, until they are called upon by their leader to perform a terrorist act or in our case 9/11.
i cannot see how this ordinance could be deemed unconstitutional. they are illegal, they shouldnt even be here. i wrote a paper on illegal immigration that i got a 98 on in this class. i might bring it for you to read josh. if you are illegal, you cannot enjoy rights as legal citizens because you are not a citizen of this country, period. i dont see why that is so hard to understand.
