Pastor Wright

Would it be right to vote for Senator Obama, considering he attended Pastor Wright's church for 20 years?

ABC video on Jeremiah Wright

Another video from Obama’s church

I think it would be right to vote for Obama because he doesn't necessarily have to agree with what his pastor said. He could have thought things over and seen things through a different perspective. You also can't think that a person will have the exact same thoughts that his of her pastor does.

Senator Barack Obama attented to Pastor Wright’s church for 20 years, and I assume that the Senator of Illinois knew some of his Pastor’s opinions about the delicate issues mentioned on the video. I am not saying that Senator Obama shares the ideas of his former Pastor, but it is possible that they shared some of them.

I absolutely see no excuse to why we should not vote for Obama. His point of view has nothning to do with Pastor Wright's point of view. I believe that what much of Wright said was a lot of attention getting and a way to draw attention to himself. Although, maybe if Obama did in fact grow up in his church, there are many cases where in the middle of people's lives, they change their faith or church because they do not agree with what the pastor is preaching. Obama has come out to being a Christian and raising his children in the Christian faith as well. He has stated that Jesus Christ is his Lord and Savior. We have to learn to separate the power of politics from the power of religion. He should most definitely not be guilty y association because we don't really even know all the facts behind the relationship of Obama and Pastor Wright.

I believe we should not hold him responsible for what his paster says. The people of the US should be focused on his views and actions, not the others around him. The same should go for every poitical figure.

In my opinion Obama should not be held responsiable for what his pastor is saying. He has already stated that he does not agree with him so why punish Obama. Also i know what the pastor was saying was not right so hopefully he does not talk like that all the time and it was just a mistake.

I dont know why would be wrong for anyone to vote for obama because he attended this church. He is not the person that said all those things about america it is the pastor. I go to mosquea and there's been time where i disagreed with what the imam had to say that doesn't mean that i believe the same thing as them. I think it would be wrong not to vote for him just for this case.

I do not think that Obama should have to lose votes because of what his pastor said. I believe that everybody has an opinion to express and should therefore be held liable for what they say. I believe that Obama is a highly educated man who has shown to be more intellectual and therefore couldn't possibly agree with the ignorant remarks made by Wright. I think people should look at what Obama himself represent rather then let what his pastor said defame his character.

To those who think that it's not right to vote for Obama because his values are reflected in those of Pastor Wright, let me just ask one question: If you're Catholic, does that mean you automatically condone the abuse of children by Catholic priests? Think about it- does it make sense to hold someone accountable to something someone else said. I don't think so. Obama is absolutely electable.

I think Obama's history with Pastor Wright is not very relevant to his political abilities as President. Association with a person does not necessarily mean that we share the same views as that person. Pastor Wright was the one who stated these feelings, so why should people hold this against Obama? He is not responsible for the words that come out of Pastor Wright's mouth. Obama already declared that he does not have the same feelings Pastor Wright does. Our potential vote for Obama should not rest on attention hungry Pastor that Obama heard years ago.
